Sustainability Pioneer Award

The pioneer award is given to an operator in the food industry that is a pioneer / leader in some aspect of sustainability; this could be novel product range, production methods, carbon management, water management, ethical sourcing, social aspects, etc. The operator must be able to demonstrate its pioneer position.

The 2019 Sustainability Pioneer award is Alara Wholefoods (UK) for pioneering many initiatives, including carbon-neutral and zero-waste facilities. Sophie's Kitchen (USA) is the runner-up, whilst Bio Foods (Sri Lanka) was a finalist.
